POSITION: Tree Care Shop Supervisor | Wilmington DE
The Davey Tree Expert Co. in Wilmington, DE is looking for energetic individuals that enjoy working in a team environment supporting vehicles in turf and horticulture industry, as well as working as a Shop Supervisor and as a Groundman in the field as assigned. The SHOP SUPERVISOR position provides basic maintenance, diagnostics and repairs for our fleet of diesel trucks and heavy equipment including, but not limited to: Stump Grinders, wood processing/chippers, Aerial lift Vehicles/Bucket trucks, Trailers, and Spray truck equipment.
DUTIES:
*Diagnoses of vehicles and equipment mechanical and electrical issues Perform mechanical work on diesel and gasoline engines, oil changes, adjusting brakes, ignition systems, etc. *Perform DOT inspections on fleet vehicles and trailers *Assist staff with trouble shooting small engine repairs on equipment *Provides support for the other crew members by controlling lowering ropes, limbs and persons from aloft *Supplying tools for tree workers *Controlling road and sidewalk traffic as needed by use of warning devices and other methods *Cutting, chipping and loading brush and wood and proper job site cleanup
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Experience in truck mechanical repairs, diesel engines and hydraulics—minimum 2 years. *Preferred experience with bucket trucks and other lift manufacturers; annual inspections, diagnosis and repair, welding and fabrication--all a plus. *Class B/CDL w/air brakes is preferred *Valid Driver's License is required *Additional training will be provided where needed. *Experience with tree care preferred as ideal candidate will work both in the Shop and in the Field as assigned by District Manager
